Rainy weather doesn't mean your dog has to miss out on fun and stimulation. In fact, indoor days can be the perfect opportunity to strengthen your bond, teach new skills, and burn off energy in creative ways. Here are some of our favourite indoor games and activities to keep your pup happy, engaged, and out of trouble — even when the skies are grey.

🧠 1. Interactive Puzzle Toys

Puzzle toys challenge your dog to problem-solve for a reward, providing mental stimulation that’s just as important as physical exercise.🦴 Try: Stuffed Kongs, treat-dispensing balls, or snuffle mats.

🎾 2. Tug of War

A classic game that burns energy and builds confidence. Use a durable tug toy and keep the game controlled with cues like “drop it” or “take it.”

🕵️‍♂️ 3. Hide and Seek

Hide behind a door or piece of furniture and call your dog’s name. It’s fun, mentally stimulating, and helps reinforce recall!

🥎 4. Indoor Fetch

If you’ve got a clear hallway or a soft surface, a short game of fetch works great indoors. Use soft toys to avoid damage — and accidents!

👃 5. Scent Work / Find the Treat

Hide small treats around the room and let your dog use their nose to sniff them out. Start easy and gradually make it more challenging.

🐾 6. Teach a New Trick

Rainy days are ideal for training sessions. Try fun tricks like “spin,” “high five,” or even teaching your dog to tidy up their toys!

🎯 7. The Cup Game

Place a treat under one of three cups and shuffle them. See if your dog can choose the right one. It’s simple, fun, and builds focus.

🧺 8. Towel Roll Treat Puzzle

Roll up a towel with hidden treats inside and let your dog figure out how to unroll it. Cheap, easy, and mentally stimulating!

🛋️ Bonus Tip: Calm Activities

Don’t forget, rainy days can also be great for calm enrichment, like chewing on a stuffed Kong, licking mats, or gentle massage.

Rain or shine, your dog can still have a fulfilling day at home. These activities not only provide exercise but also help prevent boredom-related behaviours like chewing or barking.
